The YWCA St.Thomas-Elgin is currently recruiting Relief Childcare Workers for our Summer Camp and Before and After School Programs.
We need: Reliable, Professional, Engaging, Kind, and energetic Childcare Staff.
If you are interested in becoming an Early Childhood Educator, we can help you! We can assist you in choosing the right post-secondary pathway to reach your goal, provide placement opportunities, and offer you valuable trainings and workshop opportunities to prepare you for your field!
Duties include:
- Having Fun: Organizing and implementing activities, crafts, games, activities based on children’s interests and needs for children. The environment are day camps during the summer, and Before and After School Programs (split shifts) from September to June. Programs are located in St.Thomas & Elgin County that operate in TVDSB schools.
- Being Safe: Ensuring the supervision and safety of children in program
- Preparing and serving snacks safely
- Creating a welcoming and professional environment for children and families
- Following the Child Care and Early Years Act requirements and YWCA St.Thomas-Elgin program statement and policies and procedures
- Be available and willing to travel to various schools across St.Thomas and Elgin County depending on assignment.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children ages 4 to 12
- Priority will be given to applicants with an ECE Diploma, Child and Youth Care, Recreation and Leisure, and Developmental Service Workers.
- Standard First Aid with Child and Infant CPR – Level C
- An acceptable Vulnerable Sector Check (employment specific)
- Educators are knowledgeable, reflective, resourceful, and rich in experience
- Creative, strong communicators, confident problem solvers
- Safe Food Handlers Certification prior to start date
- Completed High School
- Over age 18
- Transportation access twice per day is required due to mandatory split shifts
- Flexibility is required: Summer Hours vary depending on shift offered (i.e 7:30-12:30, 12:30- 5:30) September-June Hours are approximately 7:00-9:00am and/or 3:00-6:00pm. All shifts are split shifts.
