The YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin, established over 110 years ago, is a not for profit, social service agency governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Anticipated start date: June 8, 2026
Anticipated end date: August 28, 2026
(could extend to September 4 if candidate is available)
Number of hours per week: 30 (4 days @ 7.5 hours/day)
Hourly wage rate: $17.60
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, efficient and professional customer service to diverse population groups, clients, guests and the public.
- Using a controlled entry system, screen, prioritize and direct patrons to appropriate onsite services
- Operate a multi-line phone system and direct inquiries to appropriate staff
- Work with multiple projects in a changing environment
- Assist clients with online registration for Aquatics programming
- Use an online point-of-sale system to accept/process payments and/or donations
- Receive and distribute mail and packages
- Track and record cash, cheques, petty cash
- Complete clerical tasks as requested
- Maintain the Reception area, including keeping the bulletin board updated
Requirements and Qualifications
- Prior administrative or clerical experience is preferred
- Excellent time management and communication skills
- Comfortable using Microsoft 365

Eligibility (as required by Canada Summer Jobs):
- Between 15 and 30 years of age
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada
