#GivingTuesdayNow emphasizes opportunities to give back to communities and causes in safe ways that allow for social connection and kindness even while practicing physical distancing.
Though our office may be closed our support of women, men and youth continues through phone calls, video conferences, emails and social media. With your generosity during #GivingTuesdayNow we can lift the spirits of many in our community.
How can you give?
You may wish to donate now online here anytime. (Please select ‘Area of Greatest Need’)

FOR ONE DAY ONLY on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 our main office (16 Mary Street West, St.Thomas) reception desk will be open from 9 am to 5 pm as we accept donations of items as well as monetary donations. Please note social distancing of 6 feet will be practiced as donations are to be dropped off within the vestibule. One of our receptionists will be onsite to thank you and gather items safely.
What kind of donations are we seeking?
Stay At Home Activitiy Kits:
For many of our homes that are isolating we find that they need personal activity kits to keep occupied and engaged. Please keep in mind about 30% of our residents are young males. These could include:
Puzzles
Colouring books
Word search games
Small craft items ie bracelet making kits
Packaged snacks or treats
Pay-as-you-go phone cards:
We are staying connected to our residents through regular contact throughout the day and are using phone, text, zoom and face time to do so.
Add a touch of comfort:
Small fans for each room
Twin sheet sets are needed due to increased laundry during the pandemic and would freshen up our residents’ rooms.
Monetary donations for safe distancing social activities and lunches:
Our Women’ Residence is communal and with safe distancing restrictions the women are unable to visit in our lounges or kitchen so we are now planning and providing safe distancing social interactions in our gym to raise their spirits and provide a social outlet. At least once a week we provide a lunch, independant games and activities, craft and light exercise using physical distancing and your monetary donation would greatly assist with these activities. Donate online today under ‘Area of Greatest Need’.
Keep A Roof Over Their Heads:
Last but not least this is the time of year where we would normally be running our Keep A Roof Campaign which raises funds to support our Housing and Poverty Prevention Programs – donations to that fund are always welcome and can be done easily online here.
