Share the Warmth. Strengthen Our Community.
As the temperatures begin to drop, many individuals and families in St. Thomas and Elgin County face the challenge of staying warm through the winter months. The YWCA Community Coat Drive, presented by myFM 94.1 & Hometown St.Thomas is a simple but powerful way for our community to come together and ensure everyone has access to warm winter clothing when they need it most.
Last year, with the support of local donors, volunteers, businesses, and community partners, we welcomed 578 visitors and distributed 667 coats and hundreds of winter accessories.
This year, we’re hoping to make an even bigger impact by collecting 800 coats and winter items for children, youth, adults, and seniors throughout our community.
Every donated coat, hat, scarf, pair of mittens, or new pair of socks helps bring warmth, dignity, and comfort to a neighbour facing a difficult season. Together, we can ensure that no one must choose between staying warm and meeting other basic needs.
Donation Days
From September 7 to October 2, community collection boxes will be located at participating businesses and organizations throughout St. Thomas and Elgin County. We are gratefully accepting:
- New or gently used winter coats for adults, youth, and children
- Hats and toques
- Mittens and gloves
- Scarves
- New socks
- Winter accessories for children, youth, and adults
Community Partners

Visitors will be able to browse and select winter coats and accessories at no cost in a safe and respectful environment. Please note there will be a friendly security presence on-site to ensure safety for guests. Visitors may experience a short wait outside as we manage the flow of guests indoors to ensure a comfortable experience for everyone.
